Kenny Burkholder Wins Charger Special; Robbie Scott Wins First-Ever FASTRAK Feature; Hawkins, Perigo, Bendishaw, Smith & Koffler Repeat.

MARKLEYSBURG, PA (July 21, 2012) Kenny Burkholder won the 20-lap special, that was a makeup feature from July 14,  for the Ft. Necessity Chargers for his third win of the season. In the High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models Robbie Scott parked in victory lane on his first night out.  Other winners were Jared Hawkins (Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Models), Denny Perigo (Modifieds), Jim Bendishaw, Jr. (Krause Electric Street Stocks), Shawn Smith (Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers) and Paul Koffler, Jr. (Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners).

The first feature of the night was a make-up feature for the Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers from July 14. It was a 20-lap special that saw Kyle Burkholder battling with his older brother Kenny. Kyle led the first three laps before Kenny made the winning pass.  He led the final 17 laps in easy fashion to earn his third win of the year. JT Baird came home second over Kyle Burkholder, Shawn Smith, CJ Nicola, Justin Howell, Brad Jenkins, Bradley Nesline, Corey Faris and Cody Colflesh. The win moved Kenny into second on the all-time win list behind Marty Spade, Jr.

Jimmy Bendishaw, Jr. shot into the lead as the green dropped in the Krause Electric Street Stock feature.  Bendishaw had no competition until a caution on lap 11 closed the field.  On the restart Todd Dennis threw everything he had at the #41 but came up short at the checker.  Jim Sayler, Bob Nelson, Jason Gibbs, Barry Faris, Bob Miller, Bill Pluta, Jr., Charlie McClain and Jim Zufall were the top ten.  Sayler and EJ Rozak won the heats.

It took a few tries to get the 25-lap Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Model feature under way.  Once they got the green Fairmont, WV’s Jared Hawkins shot around Mark Booth and Mel Minnick, Jr. to take the lead on the opening lap.  Hawkins never relinquished the number one spot once out front.  Mason Zeigler came from his tenth starting spot to challenger Hawkins.  With six laps to go Scott Rhodes, who started 14th, slipped by Zeigler for second.  Rhodes kept Hawkins in sight but could not mount a serious challenge to settle for the runner up spot. Minnick, in the Danny Pugh #43, was third over Zeigler, Bob Gordon, Chad McClellan, Billy Holbert, Mark Booth, Shane Hitt and Ken Schaltenbrand.  Hawkins, Ron Delano, Jr. and Matt Cosner won the three qualifiers.

Stoystown’s Denny Perigo led all 15 laps to win his fourth Modified feature of the year. Perigo held off Denny Nakutis, Mike Reynolds, Matt Chenoweth, Bruce Dreistadt, Larry Atha, Nick Wilson, Rob Smith, Evan Taylor and Josh Cramer. Heat wins went to Perigo and Reynolds.

Robbie Scott, of Shinnston, WV, won the 20-lap High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Model feature.  Scott, debuting his new Rocket Chassis House car, passed leader Ron Parrish on lap eleven. and drove away to victory. Nico Dabecco came home second ahead of Bobby Cossell, Parrish, Nolan Dalton, Mike Lewis, Rick Singleton, Troy Shields, Corey Metheny and Colton Flinner. Heats were won by Parrish and Scott.

West Leisenring’s Paul Koffler Jr. stayed out front for the first ten laps in the Newt’s York Bar Roadrunner feature.  Andrew Pluta, Jr. made what was thought to be the winning pass with just two laps to go.  Pluta crossed under the finish line first but was later disqualified in a post race inspection.  This handed the win back to Koffler, his fifth checker this year.  Mike Lauffer was second over Paul Koffler III, Mark Seiler, Davey Lambert, Cindy Rhodes, Steve Frazier, Ed Detrick, and Allen Fortney.  Pluta and Koffler, Jr. were the heat winners.

In the night cap for the Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers Shawn Smith, of Confluence, took the lead from Cody Colflesh on lap two.  Smith was able to hold off Colflesh the final 11 laps for his fourth checkered flag.  Colflesh was second followed by Kenny Burkholder, JT Baird, Kyle Burkholder, Brad Jenkins, CJ Nicola, Bradley Nesline, Justin Howell and Terry Mitchell.  Kyle and Kenny Burkholder won the two heats.

Mechanic Races ended the night of racing.  Winners included Bill Noll (Modifieds), Dan Karalagas (FLM), Tyler Metts (Roadrunners), Shane Wheeler (Chargers) and Ralph McClain (Street Stocks).

The July 28 racing action will be highlighted by Powder Puff Races and the July 14 make-up feature for the High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models.  The Hooiser Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Models, High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models, Modifieds, Krause Electric Street Stocks, Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers and the Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners will all run a complete show.

Coming up on Saturday, August 4 is the Ernie Jones Memorial for Super Late Models.  The 22-lap race will pay the winner $2200 and $222 just to start.  The heat races and dash will also pay $222 to win. Sponsors for the event are Bobby Lake Motorsports, High Gear Speed Shop, Chuck Harper Racing, Touchdown City Motors, 3 Mules Welding, Mort’s Graphics, Stone House Restaurant and Newt’s York Bar.  High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models, Modifieds, Krause Electric Street Stocks, Ft.
