Jul 18 2010 - Miller Enjoys High Life After UFo Supernational Road Win

MARKLEYSBURG, PA (July 17, 2010) Jeremy Miller returned to victory lane at Roaring Knob for the first time since his 2008 King of the Knob win in the Jack’s Recycling Center Super Late Models. Miller picked up the $3000 for his win in the UFo Championship Series event. Billy Stile III tasted victory lane for the first time in the Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Models while Bob Nelson won his first of the season in the Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stocks. Repeat winners were Kenny Bukholder in the TC Race Car Parts Chargers and Nolan Dalton (Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Center Modifieds).

The night started off with the 12-lap TC Race Car Parts Charger feature.

Justin Howell jumped out to the lead at the start. Howell held off Mill Run’s Kenny Burkholder and Marty Spade for the first six laps when Burkholder made a pass going into to turn one on the outside to take the lead. Spade followed him into second and the battle was on. Spade was able to put the nose of his Thunderbird under Burkholder but could not make the pass. Burkholder raced home to his third win of the season putting and end to Spade’s three race win streak. Following Burkholder and Spade across the stripe were Justin Howell, Kyle Burkholder, Brad Jenkins, Jerry Walters, Jr., CJ Nicola, Bennie Dennis, Jason Gibbs and Joey Tomasek. Howell and Walters won the heats.

Dunbar’s Bob Nelson took the lead at the drop of the green and led all 15-laps to win his first Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature of 2010. Nelson couldn’t breath easy as Jim Bendishaw, Jr. hounded him for the last 14 laps. Nelson held off numerous attempts by Bendishaw to take the win. Ryan Newman was third over Mike Duritsky, John Redshaw, Scott Spade, Todd Dennis, Joe Wrona, Charlie McClain and Chris Lucy. Heat were won by Spade and Duritsky.

The Main Event of the night was the Supernational Road 40 for the Jack’s Recycling Center Super Late Models. DJ Myers shot from his third starting spot to lead the first five laps before sixth starting Jermey Mille, of Gettysburg, took over. Miller kept Myers at bay until seventh starting Jamie Lathroum moved into second on lap 11. Lathroum kept Miller in his sights but wasn’t able to overtake him. Lathroum, in his first-ever start at the Knob, came home second followed by Jared Miley (from 8^th ), Jared Hawkins (from 16^th ) and Keith Jackson. Sixth through tenth were Mel Minnick, Jr., Keith Barbara, Alex Ferree, LC Powers (from 21^st ) and Doug Horton (from 19). The four UFo heats went to Mel Minnick, Jr., Chuck Harper, Keith Jackson and Tommy Beck. John Mollick won the B-Main for the 30 cars on hand.

In the Brook’s Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Models West Newton’s Billy Stile III beat out teenager Quinton Weyandt for his career first win in the 20-lap feature. Stile and Weyandt were one-two the whole race. Ken Herman finished third ahead of Cody Hardesty, John Over, Bobby Cossell, Troy Shields, Jim Bryce, Mike Howell and Rick Strickler. Herman and Strickler took the heat wins.

It was all Nolan Dalton in the 15-lap Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Center Modified feature. Nolan beat out three time winner Deana Groves for his second win this season. Clayton Kennedy came home third in his first-ever visit to the Knob. Nathan Baker, Louie Krushansky, Dennis Perigo, Jared Hawkins and Rob Smith completed the slim field. Dalton also won the lone heat.
