Aug 01 2010 - Bendishaw and Dennis Split Street; Horton, Vandergrift, Over & Burkholder Repeat Winners

MARKLEYSBURG, PA (July 31, 2010) Twin 15 lap features for the Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stocks highlighted tonight’s card at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. Arsenberger Trucking sponsored the two features paying $250 to win each. Jim Bendishaw, Jr. and Todd Dennis each picked up a feature win. Doug Horton (Jack’s Recycling Super Late Models), John Over (Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Models), Vic Vandergrift (Melvin’s Automatice Trans. Service Modifieds) and Kenny Burkholder (TC Race Car Parts Chargers) were all repeat winners. An over two hour rain delay took place after showers hit during the qualifying races.

Uniontown’s Jim Bendishaw, Jr. took advantage of starting on the pole in the first Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature to lead all 15-laps and score his third win of the season. Bendishaw was hounded by Scott Spade who settled for second at the checker. Todd Dennis, Mike Duritsky and Bob Nelson were the top five. Sixth through tenth were John Redshaw, Jim Byers, Ryan Newman, Barry Faris and Marshall Coleman.

Bendishaw and Bob Nelson scored the heat wins.

Louie Krushansky was looking for his first win in the 15-lap Melvin’s Automatice Trans. Service Modified feature. Krushansky out gunned Jerry Hasseleu at the start of the feature event. "Lucky Louie" led the first six laps before Fairmont, WV’s Vic Vandergrift powered by for the lead.

Once out front Vandergrift was able to hold of Krushansky for this sixth win this season. Nick Cramer, Deana Groves, Todd Daughenbaugh, Bruce Dreistadt, Matthew Chenoweth, Nathan Baker, Hasseleu and Josh Cramer filled out the top ten. Groves and Hasseleu were the heat winners.

Doug Horton took advantage of his outside pole start in the 25-lap Jack’s Recycling Super Late Model feature. Horton quickly took the lead but could not pull away from Jake Hawkins (making his first Knob start this season) and Mason Zeigler. Hawkins had the steering brake on lap seven sending him hard into the inside first turn wall. He was okay but done for the night. Zeigler took up the chase but was not able to hand the Bruceton Mills. WV driver as Horton drove to his second win of the season. Zeigler, Mel Minnick, Jr., Bob Gordon, LC Powers, Danny Pugh, Billy Holbert, Mark Booth, Len Dobrosielski and Hawkins took the top ten spots. Hawkins and Horton were heat winners.

Heat winners John Over and Mike Lewis brought the field for the Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Model feature to the green. Over led at the start with Lewis glued to his rear bumper. Lewis made numerous attempt for the lead until Rick Strickler made a slick move for second on lap 15. Strickler tried to challenge Over but could not muster enough speed to get by. Over, of Uniontown, claimed his third feature win.

Strickler, Lewis, Ricky Meglaye, Ron Smithley, Troy Shields, Billy Stile III, Bobby Cossell, Garry Sisson and Jim Bryce were the top ten.

It was all Kenny Burkholder at the start of the 12-lap TC Race Car Parts Charger feature. Burkholder looked like he would have an easy time scoring his fourth win of the season, but that all changed with a caution on lap 11. This put Marty Spade, Jr. on his tail for the restart of the two-lap shootout. The high flying duo gave the fans a show as Burkholder held off Spade, Justin Howell, JT Baird and Tim Koffler. Brad Jenkins, CJ Nicola, Bus Matthews, Eric Miller and Bennie Dennis. Heat winners were JT Baird and Brad Jenkins.

The final event was the second Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature. Todd Dennis took control at the start and never looked back on his way to his division leading seventh win this year. Mike Duritsky, Scott Spade, Jim Bendishaw, Jr. and Jim Byers were the top five. The next tier of five were Joe Wrona, Marshall Coleman, John Redshaw, Barry Faris and Chris Henry.

Next week finds Roaring Knob Motorsports Compex dark for the Fayette County Fair. Racing will resume on August 14 with the second Bedford / Roaring Knob Shootout for the Jack’s Recycling Super Late Models as well as Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Models, Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Service Modifieds, Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stocks and the TC Race Car Parts Chargers.
