MARKLEYSBURG, PA (September 11, 2010) When the checkered flag flew Saturday night it was Jamie Lathroum sitting in victory lane for the first time ever at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. Lathroum, of Mechanicville, MD, was crowned "King of the Knob". The 51-lap event was a UFo Championship sanctioned race and earned the Maryland driver $5000.

Uniontown’s Jim Bendishaw, Jr. won the 15-lap Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature.

As the Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Center Modifieds hit the track so did the rain canceling the rest of the event. The Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Model feature and TC Race Car Parts Charger feature will be made up on October 8 while the Modifieds will complete their feature on October 9.

The first feature event was for the Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stocks. 2010 track champion Jim Bendishaw, Jr. took advantage of his outside front row starting spot to shoot into the lead. Bendishaw had Jim Byers glued to his bumper the first eight laps. Ninth start Todd Dennis slowly worked his way to the front and on lap nine took second from Byers. Dennis then pressured Bendishaw until lap 13 when he spun in turn two. At this point the race was checkered as rain was approaching.

Byers finished second ahead of Bob Nelson, Mike Duritsky, Marshall Coleman, Charlie McClain, Bob Miller, Gary Furman, Jr., Todd Dennis and Barry Faris. Bendishaw and Nelson were heat winners.

Chuck Clise led the 25 car field to the green for the start of the Jack’s Recycling Super Late Model feature sanctioned by the UFo Championship Series. Clise raced to the initial lead and stayed there for the first eight laps as he battled with Doug Horton. Horton was finally able to slip by on lap nine and began to pull away, but all eyes were on ninth starting Jamie Lathroum in his #6 Ford powered machine.

Caution flew on lap fourteen for Chuck Clise and Matt Gaston, ending good runs for both drivers. On the restart Lathroum was able to out race Horton into turn one and forged ahead. Horton fell back four spots before contact in turn three saw Horton spin out.

Lathroum took off on the restart being chased now by Jared Miley and Jeremy Miller. Lathroum looked like a conductor as his car was on rails.

He pulled away from the pack until he approached lap traffic on lap 26.

Miley and Miller closed in slightly as Lathroum sliced through the lapped cars with ease and put some distance between him and Miley.

With six laps to go smoke appeared from the rear of Lathroum’s car and Miley and Miller smelled blood. Jamie’s car never faltered the final five laps and he was able to score his first Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex win. The victory was also his first in UFo competition as well.

Miley finished second coming from eleventh. Miller (from 10^th ), Doug Doud (from 21^st ) and Jared Hawkins (from 13^th ) filled out the top five. Sixth through tenth at the finish were LC Powers, who started 25^th , Jack Pencil, Greg Fetters, Chad McClellan and Doug Horton.

McClellan used a backup car and had to start at the tail. Qualifying heats for the 37 car field were won by Horton, Fetters, Miller and Lathroum. The two B-Mains went to Matt Gaston and Tim Senic.

Roaring Knob now takes a month off before returning to action October
