News and Notes from Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex …..

The 2012 racing schedule has been posted.  Renewals for “Drive-in Parking Spots” and “Pit Stalls” have been mailed and are due to be returned by the first week of March 

 The first practice session is scheduled for Saturday, March 24.  Racing will begin the following weekend with a two-day FASTRAK show on March 31 and April 1.    The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series returns to Roaring Knob on Friday evening, April 20.  A three-race Powder Puff Series will find three ladies with trophies after the final event.  The annual "KING OF THE KNOB" will be held Sept. 8.  The BIG KAHUNA will move from The Rock in Cumberland, MD to Roaring Knob this year at the end of September.   Many other special events can be found in this year’s schedule.   www.roaringknob.com (go to the schedule tab at the top of the home page)


RKMC owner, Rick Jones, has announced purse increases for the 2012 racing season in an effort to help drivers with the uncertain economic times. 

          Super Late Model drivers will be running for $1200 to win with $150 to start.  Crate Late Model drivers will be paid $700 for a win and $100 to start.  However, if there is a field of 24 cars or more, the winner will receive $1000.

          The Street Stock winner’s share will increase to $300 while the Charger drivers will race for to $200 to win.  The 4 Cyl Roadrunner winner will be raised to $75. 


          All drivers are reminded that RACEIVERS are mandatory at Roaring Knob.  Drivers are responsible for owning their own radio.   Roaring Knob will only have a few sets to rent this season.  The parts truck from High Gear Speed Shop will also have units available for purchase. 

           Drivers are also reminded to have their fuel with them when they come to RK.  Fuel will not be sold this year at the track. 


         Attention Race Fans…. A Senior Citizen ticket will be offered this year at Roaring Knob at a reduced price of $10 for the grandstand area on Regular Saturday Night Racing.
