V-8 Charger Strictly Stock Division 2008 Rules & Regulations

It has come to our attention that GM built a 305 motor with a roller camshaft and roller rocker arms. That motor is not legal in this division!

A. Division: This is a low cost division designed to enable anyone to compete. It is for strictly stock automobiles only. No former race cars unless they were built as a STRICTLY STOCK CHARGER and ran only in a strictly stock charger class and they conform to these rules. This is an amateur only division, former race drivers that have won a feature in a higher racing division are not permitted to compete in this division. Rules for this division have been established to keep costs down and affordable while making the vehicles as safe as possible. Drivers must be a minimum of 14 years old. See 2008 Rules of Procedure for parent or guardian permission needed.

B. ELIGIBLE CARS: The class is open to any American made car from 1970-1990. No Jeeps, trucks, station wagons, sport cars, muscle cars and or police cars. The minimum wheel base is 104" the maximum is 108". Car must be neat in appearance and be properly painted, primer is not acceptable.

C. BODY & FRAME: Must be stock full size frames only, or unibody cars. Frame must not be rusted through, plating to repair a rust spot permitted at the rust spot only. If a unibodied frame is used it must be tied together with a 2" by 3" frame box, minimum .120 thickness between existing front frame section and existing rear frame section. No metal panels may be cut out except the specification for the trunk floors which is in the fuel cell and bladder section. Doors should be gutted. Cars must have a full floor and trunk. Once again refer to the fuel and bladder section for trunk modification. Doors must be welded shut. Rear inner fenders must remain stock, front inner fenders must be removed. All holes in the fire wall must be filled. There must be a steel fire wall between trunk and drivers compartment.

D. INTERIOR: The car must be completely gutted of all upholstery, including back seat area. All plastic vinyl etc. must be removed from the dash. 

E. HOOD & TRUNK: Cannot be altered from its original design. They must contain the original style full metal panels. No vents or scoops or openings. Both hood and trunk must be able to open easily. Latches may be removed and hood pins installed. 

F. BUMPERS: Cannot be reinforced in any manner or have anything added to them. They must be stock for the car being used. They must be securely mounted. They must be rolled, no straight bumpers or sharp edges. MUST HAVE TOW HOOK FRONT AND BACK.

G. LIGHTS & GLASS: All must be removed and holes filled.

H. Chrome: All chrome trim and or accent pieces must be removed.

I. WINDSHIELDS: All glass must be removed. Cars must have screen in front of driver. Cars must have 3 vertical bars to protect the driver from a tire entering the window opening.

J. ROLL BARS: Must be a minimum 4 point design (highly recommended is a 6 point with 2 down bars to the rear with a front & rear hoop which will be mandatory in 2009) with a minimum 3 bars in doors with racing seat and belts attached to roll cage ( high and low ) with an X behind the driver.  Door bars must arch outward to door skin. All tubing must be a minimum 1.50" diameter and .095 wall thickness seamless steel pipe. NO BLACK PIPE PERMITTED. Halo must be above drivers head. All joints must be gusseted. Roll cage must be welded to the frame at each down post. Highly recommended are "kit style cages". Drivers side door must have a minimum 1/8" thick steel plate welded to the outside from the top down to the frame the entire width of the door. It is highly recommended that you continue the plate to protect the drivers feet.  A front and rear hoop are permitted. The driver area must be padded at any point the drivers head can contact. If you can imprint the padding with your finger when pushing on it, it is not proper padding. Drivers seat must have a headrest. Must have a racing seat, no plastic or fiberglass seats, attached properly to the roll cage with a minimum 5 point  seat and shoulder belt harness system properly installed per manufactures instructions.

K. SUSPENSION: MUST BE STOCK AND IN STOCK LOCATION. CAR MUST BE LEVEL SIDE TO SIDE AND FRONT TO REAR. Tubular aftermarket steel upper control arms may be used but must be in stock location. Springs can not be chained or clamped down or left out. No lowering or lifting blocks or adjustable parts. Leaf springs may be used but must have the same amount of leafs on both sides. No heavy duty suspension parts. Cambering of right front wheel is permitted. Shocks must be OEM for car being used or after market equivalent . Must be in stock location. No extra shocks. No air shocks.

L. NUMBERS: Cars must be numbered in an acceptable manner. Only 2 digit numbers, 18" high and 3" wide minimum on both the doors and roof also 4" by 4" number on the windshield upper right corner and the tail light area left rear corner. Numbers must be highly visible and acceptable to the scorers. If not you will be advised of changes needed. No duplicate numbers, the first registrant of a number will own that number ( call the track office to register a number ) If a duplicate number appears at the track a temporary change will be made that night and a permanent for future appearances.

M. BATTERY: May be relocated but must be under the hood and properly secured. Tie down straps or bungee cords are not acceptable as securing. 

N. DRIVE SHAFT: Must be stock and in stock location. Must have a steel 360 degree safety strap at front of drive shaft. Must be painted white.

O. REAR ENDS: Must be stock and in stock location. Must be locked, welded or spool. Ford 9" rear ends are permitted.

P. ENGINES: MUST BE TOTALLY STOCK AND IN STOCK LOCATION. The motors permissible are 265,283,302,305,307,318 cubic inch V-8 small block all steel, MAXIMUM .030 OVERBORE FOR CLEAN UP. The motor must be stock for the car being used. The cylinder heads must be the right part number for the car, not a 350 Chevrolet head on a 305 motor for example. Only one unmodified, stock original equipment for the make of motor being used 2 barrel carburetor that bolts directly to the stock manifold with out any adapters permitted. No dual pumpers or predator style permitted. Must have working starter and start on its own. Must have working alternator and must be hooked up at all times.

No motor that contains a roller camshaft or roller rocker arms is permitted.

Q. EXHAUST: NO HEADERS PERMITTED. May be changed to dual exhaust, maximum pipe size 2". Must exit the car behind the driver and be parallel to the track, may not point down to the track. Must be stock exhaust manifold for the make of car and engine being used.

R. TIRES AND WHEELS: ONLY HOOSIER 26.5/8.0-15 AND 27.5/8.0-15 A40, D40 or RC4 MOUNTED ON AN 8 INCH WIDE RIM, BEAD LOCK RIM PERMITTED ON RIGHT REAR ONLY. ALL WHEELS MUST BE THE SAME OFFSET. STEEL WHEELS ONLY. 1" HD STUDS & LUG NUTS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

S. BRAKES: Must be stock brake system for the car and must be working on all 4 wheels.

T. TRANSMISSIONS: MUST BE STOCK FOR THE MAKE AND MODEL BEING USED. All forward and reverse gears must be working. If standard transmission, clutch, pressure plate and flywheel must be stock. Automatics are permitted but must be stock and have a working torque converter, no couplers permitted. Bell housing must have a 1" hole in it for inspection purpose.

U. FUEL BLADDER AND CONTAINER: You must have a fuel bladder in a metal container with 4 straps a minimum of 1/8" thick by 1" wide and it must be mounted inside the trunk area. Maximum size is 12 gallon. The trunk floor must be cut out to accommodate the fuel bladder and container plus allowing a 4" wide margin around the entire bladder and container. This will accomplish two safety goals of permitting fuel to escape the car in the event of an accident as well as providing a buffer around the fuel bladder and container in case of a severe rear end collision. The fuel bladder and container mounting brackets must be tied into the frame with either substantial angle iron or square tubing.

V. FUEL: Gasoline only. No additives permitted, no alcohol, no nitrous oxide. Gasoline can be sampled and if any performance enhancing additives are found, the result will be suspension from the track.

W. SAFETY: Must have a racing seat ( no plastic or fiberglass ) seat must have a head rest, properly attached to the roll cage with a minimum 5 point seat and shoulder harness system properly mounted per manufacturers instructions. Belts must be less than 3 years old. Must wear a Snell 95 or better approved full face helmet. Must wear a fire retarding drivers suit and gloves. ( Nomex is highly recommended )  Nylon mesh window net required on drivers side. All cars must have a working minimum 5 lb. fire extinguisher securely mounted within reach of the driver. ( 5 lb. Halon is highly recommended ) Must have a safety chain on the left side of the motor. No radios or 2 way communication of any kind permitted. No mirrors.

X. WEIGHT: All cars must weigh 3100 lb. after the race with driver. Any added weight must be securely mounted to the frame with a minimum of two (2) 1/2" diameter steel bolts and painted white. Any added weight must be in front of the rear axle and behind the front axle and on the inside of the frame rails.

ALL ABOVE RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. CHANGES WILL BE MADE ON AN ACROSS THE BOARD NOT AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. CHANGES WILL BE PROPERLY POSTED. BE GUIDED BY THE RULE "IF IT DOESN'T SAY YOU CAN ASSUME YOU CAN'T"

The Race Director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decisions are final, non-appealable and non-litigable.
